Indiana Governor Mike Braun recently signed a Proclamation declaring September as Life Insurance Awareness Month.
The purpose of Life Insurance Awareness Month, an initiative of NAIFA and the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), is to highlight the importance of life insurance and how it provides financial security to consumers when faced with unexpected losses. Another goal of the initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of access to affordable financial protection products.
The Governor’s support of, and the signing of the Proclamation, boost the visibility of Life Insurance Awareness Month, giving voice to this vital industry bolstered by the insurance and financial advisor members of NAIFA. In Indiana, it's big business as there are 455 life insurers licensed to do business in Indiana, which generates approximately 49,600 jobs.
The Proclamation reminds Hoosiers of the importance of life insurance and how it provides financial security when faced with unexpected losses. It also states life insurers paid out $2.48 billion in life insurance benefits to Indiana families in 2024 alone.
NAIFA created the concept several years ago, that September be declared Life Insurance Awareness Month in all 50 states with state and local NAIFA chapters spearheading the effort in their respective local communities and states.
Founded in 1890, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors is the leading association for financial professionals in the United States of America. NAIFA members, in every Congressional district and every state house, subscribe to a strong Code of Ethics and represent a full spectrum of practice specialties to promote financial security for all Americans. Complemented by its professional development and consumer communities, the Society of Financial Service Professionals and Life Happens, the association delivers value through advocacy, service, and education.
